| Describe your expertise: | Through Thistle Editorial, LLC, Dr. Howson creates evidence-based education content for healthcare professionals that is grounded in adult learning principles and clinical insight. Trained in qualitative methodologies at the University of Edinburgh, Dr. Howson also collects and analyzes qualitative data to support initiatives in continuing education/continuing professional development, quality improvement, and patient safety. | Brief biography: | Initially trained as a Registered General Nurse, Dr. Howson is an experienced medical writer, researcher, and educator (Universities of Edinburgh, Aberdeen, and UC Berkeley), a medical sociologist with a peer review publication record, and an author of widely used university texts. Since 2008, Dr. Howson has created CPD/CEHP content for a range of live and online programs and conducted qualitative research concerning a range of clinical challenges in oncology, cardiology, neurology, and endocrinology to support comprehensive needs assessments and quality improvement initiatives in healthcare. Findings from these studies have been published in journals, presented at major conferences (e.g. ASCO, SABCS), and used to inform education programming. |
