Describe your expertise: With over 20 years of experience in science communication and 4.5 years specializing in medical writing for Continuing Medical Education (CME), I help boutique and large clients develop needs assessments (NAs) that secure grants. As a trained scientist, I bring a deep understanding of the underlying science, ensuring accuracy and clarity in all my writing. Additionally, I leverage my expertise as an AI educator and consultant with 1.5 years of experience, helping medical education companies integrate AI into their workflows. I’ve spoken at industry meetings, created an AI curriculum, and provided tailored guidance on adopting AI tools effectively. Clients consistently praise my ability to communicate complex concepts clearly, both in writing and teaching.
Brief biography: I hold a PhD in Cellular Biology, where I focused on neglected tropical diseases, and my undergraduate studies were in Genetics and Human Physiology. My passion for science communication started in high school, and I now teach The Art of Science Communication course several times a year, helping scientists communicate their work effectively. As a cancer survivor—having experienced the disease both as a child and an adult—I have a unique perspective on the medical field, seeing it through both the patient’s and the provider’s lens. My work as a scientist and time in medical school deepened my understanding of healthcare from both sides. I’m also passionate about artificial intelligence. I find AI fascinating and aim to be at the forefront of integrating this technology into the medical education field. I help companies and individuals navigate the complexities of AI to enhance their workflows and have spoken at various industry conferences on the topic. Growing up, my mother, who worked in pedagogy, always emphasized the importance of teaching and learning, and her influence has shaped my own teaching style. I am particularly interested in how we can apply effective teaching methods to both science and AI education.
