Describe your expertise: Richard F. Tischler, Jr., PhD, FACEHP, is Founder, President, and CEO of Viator Medical Communications, Inc., a CME consulting firm. Providing consultation and solutions to the CME industry for more than 23 years, Dr. Tischler specializes in: • ACCME Accreditation and Reaccreditation • Administration of the CME Program • CME/CE Regulation • Quality Improvement • Educational Programming Dr. Tischler has provided counsel to more than 100 organizations, including Medical Specialty Societies and Associations, Hospitals and Medical Centers, Medical Schools, Medical Education Companies, Publishing Companies, Pharmaceutical Companies, and Medical Device Companies.
Brief biography: Dr. Tischler was Director of Accreditation Services for the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), where he managed the accreditation process. Dr. Tischler has served as Director of CME for four medical education companies/publishers. He is the former Executive Director of CME for the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he had an appointment as an Adjunct Assistant Professor. He is a Founder and former Board member of NAMEC, the National Association of Medical Education Companies, a trade association dedicated to advocacy and education. Dr. Tischler is a Fellow of the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions. He served as the Provider Section Leader of the Alliance’s Medical Education and Communication Company Alliance (MECCA), and has served on or chaired several committees that are part of the Alliance. He also served as Vice President of the Mid Atlantic Alliance for CME (MAACME). Prior to entering the CME industry in 1993, Dr. Tischler was an administrator at Northwestern University and served as Senior Assistant to the Vice President for Administration and Planning. Dr. Tischler received his PhD from the University of Virginia in Higher Education Administration. He also has a BA in English from the University of Notre Dame and an MA in English from Bowling Green State University.
