I am an experienced consultant to ACCME and State Medical Society accredited providers, with expertise in the design, evaluation and compliance of new and ongoing continuing medical education activities and programs. I am particularly interested in helping new CME colleagues achieve success in their roles and am often called upon to assist CME providers with improvements to their overall CME Program.
Consulting services include initial and reaccreditation services; on-boarding and training of staff; short-term and remote staffing; interim department management; educational project design and management; assistance with virtual meeting transitions and platforms; workshop presentations; review of CME policies and procedures for compliance with accreditation requirements; audits of CME activity files; mock surveys; review of self-study materials in preparation for accreditation and PARS entry; probation consults; learning management system (LMS) consults; medical copy editing; copyright searches; and PowerPoint presentation design. |
| Brief biography: |
Debbie Platek, MS, CHCP, is President of CME Mentors, Inc., a medical education consulting company located in the Chicago area. Founded in 2015, CME Mentors assists medical education providers with training, project management, educational design and accreditation-related needs. Prior to CME Mentors, Debbie was Assistant Director of Education, Accreditation and Licensure at the Illinois State Medical Society, and managed the CME program of a Chicago area hospital. During her tenure in these roles, Debbie conducted multiple accreditation interviews as a trained surveyor and presented workshops on CME accreditation-related topics.
Debbie is the former president of the Illinois Alliance for Continuing Medical Education (IACME), Chair of the IACME Basics Workshop, and a frequent presenter at training events for the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions. Past roles for the Alliance include: Abstract Reviewer, Annual Meeting; Chair and Faculty, Alliance Basics Workshop; Planner and Faculty, CHCP Prep Webinars & Workshop; and member of the Alliance Education Committee. Debbie serves on the Advisory Board for the Academy of Continued Healthcare Learning and is a Certified Healthcare CPD Professional (CHCP). She holds a Masters in Communication from Northwestern University and a Bachelors in Sociology from the University of Illinois. |
